Someone asked me out for a date!!

Yes my darling asked me out for a date out of the blue on Monday evening and of cos I said yes!! Actually it has been a while since we went on a date, spending time together doing couple stuff. I came home a bit earlier yesterday so I can play a little with Ezra before heading out. Ezra keep asking why I need to go out, can he follow? I sms jac but his reply was "I prefer to be just us, couple time for this evening"

It was decided that we will have a quick dinner & catch the 7.15pm X-man show. While waiting for Jac at Marina Square, I saw a handsome man carrying a bouquet of sunflowers walking towards me!! It was such a surprise!! I wondered what was the occasion and Jac simply said, "Cos I promised to always give you surprises!!"I was carrying my flowers proudly and into the cinema!! The show was good, just like I had enjoyed the Batman origin. It brings back or the reason how these super heros become who they are and the reasons are often sad.

It short but very enjoyable evening with my darling hubby. Thank you darling for a life span of surprises!! I love you.

I am his best friend?

We had to go back to the PD for final review and thank God Ezra's lungs are all cleared!! Anyway, while we were getting out of the car, Ezra said something which I cant recall. But when I open his side of the door and unbuckle his car seat belt, he smiled at me sweetly and said "Thank you mummy for rescuing me!!" LOL cos I was surprised with his choice of words! When I pick him up, he hugged me tight and whispered into my ears "Mummy, you are my best friend!" My heart just melted and I kissed him so hard!! I love you son.
While waiting for his turn, he made a friend and the 2 of them just chat and passed funny comments to each other. Dr Tan asked if that was Ezra talking and she loved the chatter of kids!! That's chatty boy for now!!

Happy Birthday Darling

It was Jac's birthday yesterday & I really wanted to bake him his favourite Tiramisu cake. I surf the net, checked with my sis and bought all the ingridents needed. I got Ezra involved, he was supposed to look out and let me know when the mix turned white. He helped to soak the fingers in the coffee and put them in the tray. He did well.

In the course of our baking, I told him that it was daddy birthday tomorrow so we are making his cake, it will be a surprise!! However when the daddy came home in the evening, he ran to the papa & whisper, "Daddy its your cake!!" I gave Ezra the look & he quickly put his fingers on his lips & said "Shhh... its a surprise!" I almost fainted while Jac is rolling with laughter!!

Anyway, Jac wanted to go home and celebrate his big day with his parents, so I prepared roast chicken, fish head curry, sotong salad, fried wantan and veg for dinner.

After dinner, I dress up Jac's birthday cake a little & very happy with the results! However, there is more room for improvement, it can be less sweet & less wet.

A family picture to remember this day. Blessed birthday darling, may you grow in God's wisdom as you lead this family.

This is the way I write my name!

Ezra surprised me 1 evening when he took some paper & told me "Mummy, I want to write my name." True enough, he was able to write it pretty well! Good job son!!

A Breakfast Date

Since we are home bound for a while & I own Keith, my nephew a treat, we invited him & his girlfriend to our place for breakfast. I have not prepared such a spread of breakfast for a long time... the menu includes, garlic bread, home made pan cake with stewed granny pear, bacon & hotdog, scrambled egg, fruit salad, ham & brewed coffee!!

After the yummy breakfast, we tried our hands on Wii. We played Mario Kart, Raving Rabbit & Wii Sports, Wii Play.... I think we got too excited, no I got too excited, swinged the control too high & it hit our ceiling fan string & it hit the light cover & it shattered! We had a rude shock!! I was so thankful that none of us were hurt or injured in any way especially Ezra!! Thank God for His protection!!

Sigh... What was I thinking!!

Ezra had been coughing with no other symptoms for almost 3 weeks. His cough would come periodically, when he coughs, he would cough for a couple of seconds n sometimes make that vomiting sound!! It is bad in the night when he sleeps. But other than that, he is eating ok, playing ok and as cheeky as ever.

1st, we brought him to chinese doc, took powder but no improvement. Week 2 went to GP, lungs cleared, throat cleared so he was just given cough syrup. Wk 3, Jac (thank God for the wisdom God gave him) insist that we shld bring him to Dr Tan our PD. So appt was fixed at 3pm yesterday, even on our way, I was thinking whether the visit is needed cos he is just coughing. But again Jac insisted.

At the clinic, Dr Tan listened to his lungs & said it was very congested, full of phlegm!! He has bronchitis but with the prolonged cough it could have been bateria infection than just verus !! I was shocked beyond words. She suspected mycoplasma and started him on 4 days antibiotic. I asked how can it be as he is perfectly well except the cough. She mentioned abt mycoplasma, walking pneumonia where the child is well, walking ard but having pneumonia!!

I felt so terrible, how can I have missed it, how can I have dismissed his cough & think nothing of it!! I cant imgine how much more suffering Ezra wld be taking if I did not bring him to PD & proper medi given!!

Fish Spa

Our cell group had an outing to Qian Hu Fish Farm over the weekend. The trip was ok, saw lots of different fish, price ranging very wide.. there were some very pretty rays that cost $7000 for a pair!!

Their longkang fishing is really difficult compared to Kids Kampong cos the drain is very wide making it really difficult to even reach for the fish.

Some of our friends went for this Fish Spa... there were 3 ponds, 1 with small but lots of fish, 2nd with slightly bigger fish but less in density & last pond with fish as big our palm!! That's gross!!

With some encouragement, Ezra dipped his hands into the pond and even allowed the fish to nibble on his palm!
Thats BG's mum who went along the outing as well.

We made a detour to FartMart but it was quite a disappointment... many of the shops were very run down, really nothing much to see, do or even buy.

Good Friday Reflection

With Good Friday that just passed, with the business of life, I took a step back to reflect and think about what God has done in my life.

I cant thank God enough for His love and grace for me... He loved me enough to allow His son to die on the cross for me. He loved me enough to turn His face from His son cos of the burden of my sins on Jesus. I remembered reading and not understand how come God tuned His face from Jesus at his dying moments? How can He bear to do that? It must have been recorded wrongly!! It took me a while to recognise that & it never fails to bring a tear to my eyes. The pain that God the Father has to go through with Jesus His son just so we can come to the saving grace of God!! Thank you God, thank you Jesus, thank you Holy Spirit!

I remembered someone sharing her observation with me some years back, on the afternoon of Good Friday, the sky wld always turned dark abt 2-3pm. It was just like 2000 years ago when Jesus was crucified on the cross, when the veil in the temple of torn into 2, it was a dark & sad day for all.

However, we can rejoice and be victorius cos 3 days later, on Easter Sunday, Jesus overcome death, he rose from the died and returned to His Father side. It was a day of dancing and celebration! I can come into the presence of God, into the Holy of Holies cos of His grace! Thank you God, thank you Jesus & thank you Holy Spirit!! Amen! Amen! Amen!

Warning - Kong Bak Pau

Mum got me a few pcs of pork belly some weeks back & its was still sitting in the freezer!! So I decided to braise kong bak & steam some pau for dinner during one of the nights.

The result came in not too bad!! Ezra would smell it in the living room while watching his evening tv dose & ask "Mummy can I eat char siew?" Of cos my darling, mummy is always so glad to see you enjoying my cookin. After 1 pcs, he asked for a second. BTW I had to teach him the name of this new dish...
Ezra having more kong bak together with the pau... YUMMY!
Among the 4 of us, we finished a whole pkt of bun (10) & this whole plate of kong bak!! Scary!!

Ezra got Mail!!

Yes you are reading correctly!! Ezra had his 1st mail in the post!! I opened letter box as usual, a big bright orange envelope caught my attention, thinking it was those marketing flyer. I turn it ard & was surprise it wrote "EZRA CHUANG" I ran upstairs & gave it to Ezra... He took the envelope saying, "It's mine?" He took a look & recognise his name "Yeah mama, E.Z.R.A my name."

I told him to tear it open to see whats inside. It was a sweet birthday card from our church Children Pastor, Aunty Lai Kuan. God bless her heart for the children.See how cheeky & happy Ezra was!!

When Ezra turns 3, he should....

1. Do diaperless in the night
As mentioned before, we noticed that Ezra diapers are dry for most nights & we told him that very soon he will not need to wear diapers to bed at night! But our boy insisted that he needs to wear diapers so a deal was strike. On his 3rd birthday, he would not have to wear diapers cos he would be a big boy & not baby anymore.

So since Sat, he was without his diapers. We spent time telling him that he is not wearing diapers, if he needs to pee pee, he hold on/ control, wakes up & call for mummy or aunty. He slept well but I was the one constantly waking up to check if he wet his bed, rubbing some vicks for him cos he is coughing... He stayed dry for 3 nights already!! Well done son... mummy is so pleased with you!!

2. Drink from the cup
This is the other thing we were trying to wean him off his milk bottle. Again the dateline was his 3rd birthday. After drinking his last milk bottle on Sat night, he throw away the bottle into the waste bin. On Sun, he drank from the cup and went to bed. But he has since been asking for his other bottle & pleading so pathetically which I dont have the heart to say no!

Blessed 3rd Birthday Ezra!!

It was a busy busy day for our family as our dearest son Ezra is turing 3 today!! A small party was planned for our prince!! It was supposed to be a quite, small group of family but when Ezra was told of his guest list he quickly asked "How abt my friends, mama?" So last min sms was sent to a few of his Sunday school friends!!

Jac & myself got out of bed early as we need to go down to Woodlands Terrace to Fassler to purchase very cheap salmon sashimi, a big try (abt 400gm) for only $16!! Our party menu was dips & chips, sashimi, home-made sushi, home made pizza, potatoe soup. Menu is a bit challanging cos very tideous, time consuming, I actually over run and food was not ready when some of our friends came!! better planning is needed for next party!!

Yiyi Lydia, Yiyi Linda were 1st family to arrive, next came Sidney & Sven than Uncle Brian & Aunty Lai Kuan and slowly everyone started to arrive! Ezra happily brought his friends to his room and many many toys were pulled out!! The kids had fun playing his toys & some other watching TV programs.

When everyone are more or less done with food, Ezra cut his McQueen jelly cake!! Everyone was just so eager to put their teeth into the yummy looking jelly cake!! Here a picture of the presents Ezra was blessed with. He is so looking forward to riding his bicycle and kicking football!! Thank you everyone for coming & blessing our family.

Early Birthday Celebration

Ezra celebrated his birthday in school today.... We ordered a cute racing track cake from Smiling Orchid all the way from Ghim Moh. The cake is quite pretty & seems big for a 1 kg cake & quite reasonably priced!! Ezra was very excited abt the celebration & he got up of bed without any fuss & we were in school within record time!!
Ezra with his friends in classEzra's teacher praying over himOur family pic Since Jac mgt to get his leave approved last min, I decided to take whole day childcare leave as well. We met Michael for minced pork noodles in Toa Payoh, very yummy. We picked up Ezra abt 10.30am & headed to ECP. We rented the bikes & went for a ride along the beach. We stopped over at the cable ski park & mgt to catch a few folks trying out their stunts!! Next stop was Bedok jetty which is so new & pretty now. Unfortuantely we were not able to see any fish on hook!! As it gets much too hot for our comfort, we returned the bikes & went for our lunch at Mac. Ezra took abt 1/3 of the fish burger, 1 nugget & countless fries!! On our way back, he saw a fern & very curiously asked what's under. Papa explained that those were the seeds & our boy wasted no time to take a better look!! After lunch, we headed to Taka Mall to pick up some stuff to decorate the house (actually only the happy birthday banner) and some stuff for the goody bag for tml party! Everything in the bag were carefully chosen by Ezra!! He is so looking forward to his mini party tml!! Stay tune!!

Children & now Teens!!

Mel & some of the girls wanted to visit our place & the date was fixed on Tues. Sharon, Jane, Jasmine & Mel came to my place abt 4pm and they wanted to bake stuff. I was thinking of cookies since it has been a while. However on Tuesday, a parent brought a big bag of very riped bananas so we baked banana muffins instead! The girls were a little gorssed out by the very mushy bananas!! The muffins did not turn out very nice, i think we put way too much mashed bananas!! But the girls think it was YUMMY!!I cooked chicken claypot rice, kang kong, cabbage, steam fish & tofu & everything was wiped out!!

After dinner, Mervyn took out a cake to surprise his little sister Mel. It was so sweet of him!! Although he was limping due to football accident, he limped all the way to Taka & bought a marble cheese cake from Swissbake which is Mel favourite!! Mel was totally surprised!!
As she was blowing the candles, it suddenly dawn on me... wow it has been so so so long... they were the children I teach and minister to when they were in Sunday school & Children Minsitry. But now they are 18 & 16 years old liao!! I am so old liao!!

After the cake, the teens still have tummy for home made crepes & ice-cream!! They hang ard & played cards until 10pm before I 'chase' them home!!

Oh here's some impression of Mel from the eyes of my son Ezra!!
This is my online journal of things, events, happenings in my life. This will also be a online inheritance I leave for my dearest hubby Jacky & lovely son, Ezra.
